The candidates for President are:

Ticket: Progress

Hello everyone, my name is Alyssa and for the past year I have been serving as the President of PARSA.

As President, and previously as acting Vice President and Women’s Officer, I have worked hard to place the rights and welfare of postgraduate students into the heart of everything we do at PARSA. This includes transforming and introducing new community initiatives and events; introducing robust governance, accountability and policy measures; running the largest ever postgraduate survey in order to understand the needs of the community; revamping our website and communications; and increasing our advocacy on key issues, amongst many other things.

It has been an immense privilege to be able to serve this community as President for the last year, which is part of the reason I am running again with team Progress. We want to take PARSA to the next level: to build on the solid foundation we have established this year and build PARSA into the organisation it needs to be for the future.

In the past year I have come to understand the many issues facing postgraduate students and identified key reforms needed at ANU and within PARSA in order to ensure the best outcomes for postgraduates. I have worked hard to build relationships across the ANU and am confident, that should you elect myself and my team, we can build successfully on our work in order to transform PARSA into a strong and sustainable voice at ANU.

Ticket: ANyou

I’m Paul, a postgraduate student at College of Business and Economics completing a Master of Economics, and part of the ANyou team.

ANyou is about delivering action on divestment, equitable housing, and improving student paths to employment. I also believe PARSA must play a fundamental role in ANU's action on sexual consent and safety on campus and will work to facilitate dialogue and implement policies that are more than just tokenism.

I’m fascinated by the impact economics has on shaping public policy and believe in contributing to a better world by focusing on social policy, poverty, and inequality through effective and significant support for society's most disadvantaged, in Australia and around the world. My role as President will be to motivate and lead PARSA to make ANU a more inclusive, open, and accessible place for all our postgraduates.

Prior to my studies at ANU, I worked as a Management Consultant in corporate restructuring, program evaluation, and process improvement. I’ve worked with socially conscious organisations including the Blood Service, Red Cross, and Mission Australia and believe in matching my work to my values. I have also studied at the University of New South Wales and was on scholarship to Purdue University in the USA.

I bring a broad range of university, non-profit and business experience to the role of President, and I look forward to leading an association that can make a difference to the lives and wellbeing of all our postgraduate community.
