Nominees:
Eve Walker
Ticket: Advocate

My name is Eve Walker and I am a second year Juris Doctor student with a background in political science and history. As PARSA’s Education Officer I have been vocal about improving the overall quality of courses and opposing the recently announced tertiary fee increases. I believe that access to higher education should be a universal right, and the ANU needs to remain accountable to its students and their elected representatives.
Our community comes from all over the world, with a variety of diverse backgrounds. With each student bringing their own approach to academia and global governance, both domestic and international students need to be represented equally. We seek to achieve a more inclusive platform for students and have structured our policy initiatives to reflect this.
As President, I believe it would be remiss not to use the challenges presented by COVID-19 to innovate how PARSA functions within the ANU. Our social events, such as ‘Unwind’, are well known, but we are also one of the first points of contact when the university wants to develop new programs. If elected I will ensure that we create more open lines of communication for students’ voices to be heard; a factor which is becoming increasingly important with the expected 2021 budget cuts. Additionally, discourse surrounding the sexual, physical and emotional wellbeing of students needs to be destigmatised. The term ‘Advocate’ can mean many things, but in 2021 we will ensure that no student is left behind.
Petar Tankosic-Gajic
Ticket: ANU United

My name is Petar Tankosic-Gajic, and I am studying a Masters of Public Policy at the Crawford school. I am running for the position of President on ‘ANU United’ ticket. We are a team of diverse people with different life experiences but with the same vision: “GO TOGETHER, GO FURTHER’
I have organised an informal gathering of students for the Economics for Government course, which ensures students can gather in person but also that they are up to date with the course material. I also personally help students who need more one-on-one time. These self-appointed roles show leadership, governance and a commitment to punctuality and the ability to understand and connect with a diverse range of students.
Being a local student who was born overseas, I am well aware of the challenges being faced by both international and domestic students. My motivation for running for PARSA election as President is to ensure that the postgraduate student’s voice is being heard and acted upon by the university and beyond. I wish to use my multidisciplinary skills to be your voice and a custodian of your trust as President.
To help our community flourish together, vote for ANU United. Our strategic policy can be found here.
Your support is highly appreciated and we promise to deliver on our commitments.
