Student Safety

ANU OK is the official safety and well-being app of the ANU, developed by students for students.

This initiative is the result of months of work and collaboration by the ANU Students’ Association (ANUSA), Postgraduate and Research Students Association (PARSA), ANU Security and ANU Division of Life (DSL) with the aim of increasing student and staff engagement with safety on campus. This collaborative approach between students and staff is what differentiates ANU OK from other Universities with similar apps, and is a fantastic example how students and ANUSA can make a meaningful difference to the community!

ANU OK is intended to help you with your everyday needs such as finding your way around campus, access to parking information, bus routes, accessing support services and more. More importantly, the app will enable quick and easy access to essential services, should you require police, fire or ambulance.

The app is available for download on Android and iOS Devices.

Looking toward the future we hope that ANU OK will evolve to meet the ANU community’s needs. As such, if you have any feedback please email

ANU UniSafe Bus

ANU UniSafe Bus, working in conjunction with ANU Security and the UNISAFEGUARD Patrol. The UniSafe Bus operates Monday to Friday evenings during semester.

The ANU campus is quite large (145 hectares), with in excess of 150 buildings. If you have to move around the campus at night, it makes sense to:

  • Walk in groups
  • Using lit paths (map availabe from ANU Security)
  • Catching the free UniSafe Bus
  • If you feel the need to be escorted from your place of study/work on campus at night, call ANU Security on 52249 (6125 2249) and ask if UNISAFEGUARD Patrol Officers are available to accompany you.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Get Up & Go Walking: Get Up & Go is a peer-support walking program for all ANU students. Registrations for 2017 are now open.  The program involves linking you up with another student who has also registered to be a walking partner. The two of you then arrange to go walking on a weekly basis. This provides opportunities for physical activity and social contact which can be a great way to manage your mental health and wellbeing.

ANU Counselling Centre: Free and confidential counselling is available on campus for all currently enrolled ANU students, including ANU College students. There are also group programs for common issues, public seminars, and a peer support walking program.
