PARSA Emergency Accommodation Assistance
The first course of action for new students is to secure long-term accommodation. For more information on how to secure long term accomodation, PARSA's accommodation seeker and housing tips are starting points.
For those students who have arrived in Canberra without having secured either on-campus or off-campus accommodation, the PARSA Emergency Accommodation Assistance assists by allocating temporary accommodation while they secure long-term options.
PARSA will allocate, according to need and available funding, spaces at Canberra’s youth hostel in Civic (YHA) for currently enrolled postgraduate students who have newly arrived in Canberra. Students may qualify at PARSA’s discretion for up to 7 nights’ accommodation in shared lodging at the YHA. PARSA will cover accommodation costs for successful candidates, but will not cover any costs or fees above the approved amount including the cost of damages, extensions to occupancy or extra services.
Application Period: Feb 6th – 17th 2017 (applications outside of this period will be considered at the discretion of PARSA Student Assistance)
1. Have accepted an offer of enrolment at the ANU
2. Be in search of long-term accommodation
3. Be in need of short-term emergency accommodation
4. Not rely on Emergency Accommodation Assistance for long-term occupancy
Interested applicants must submit an application form along with the following documents:
1. Proof of enrolment (ISIS confirmation)
2. Evidence of applications to accommodation – e.g. ANU Housing application, queries to off-campus agents, including email queries.
PARSA Assistance Officers will decide, based on evidence, if a student qualifies for assistance and will determine the duration of occupancy allowed. Successful applicants are required to notify PARSA Assistance of any changes to the length of their stay, especially if they need fewer days’ accommodation than granted.
