New to ANU and want some advice? Looking for a new place to relax? Cold in winter but the library’s too silent? The Brian Kenyon Student Space (BKSS) might just be your perfect place.
BKSS first opened in 2011, and is a focal point for students on campus – a lounge located in the heart of ANU campus to meet-up, relax and re-charge your batteries.
Location
The Student Space is on Level 2 of the Di Riddell Student Centre in Kambri. Drop by for a place to relax, microwave your food and enjoy a free breakfast 8-10am during term time.
Come in and say hi! We’d love to show you around.
Opening Hours
Regular hours: 8am - 8pm, Monday to Friday.
The BKSS is currently running under reduced capacity. Only 20 students may be in the BKSS at one time for a maximum of 2 hours.
NOTE: Regular opening hours are for the teaching period. Hours may be subject to change during break, StuVac and exams.

Free Breakfast
ANUSA provides a free continental breakfast for students during the teaching term. Breakfast is available from the BKSS 8am – 10am, Monday to Friday.
Student Bites is a food program started right here at ANU. In partnership with OzHarvest Canberra, Student Bites collects quality excess food from supermarkets and delivers it free of charge to students and other communities in need in Canberra and beyond.
Student Bites arrives at the Brian Kenyon Student Space with a fresh delivery of fruit and vegetables, as well as the occasional baked goods and eggs.
Food is limited to one paper bag’s worth of food per person per week. This is to ensure that students don’t miss out.
Bags are available for a gold coin donation. This money goes directly to Student Bites, not ANUSA.
*please note that the exact time of Student Bites may vary from week to week. Keep an eye on the BKSS Facebook page for updates!
Venue Hire
You can hire the Student Space for events. Email sa.studentspace@anu.edu.au for rates. This service is free for affiliated Clubs and Societies.
You can also use the Student Space during opening hours for meetings for clubs, small functions and get-togethers. Come and chat to the staff behind the desk before your event about it, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your group.
* Due to COVID-19 restrictions, venue hire is temporarily suspended.
Equipment Hire
You can hire BBQ's and Marquee's from BKSS. Please use this google form https://anusa.com.au/services/equipmenthire/ and the BKSS staff will respond to the hire requests by email.
It is free for affiliated clubs and societies to hire equipment, but it is required that you leave a cash deposit at the BKSS. Otherwise a fee is charged for borrowing the equipment, but if it is an event run by students and is for students, then the staff are open to negotiation.
Additionally, if the BBQ’s are borrowed, whoever is using them has to either provide their own gas bottles or pay to use ANUSA’s.
