Hello everyone. I am Shaaf Khurram and let’s together read through a progressive enlightenment that Progress is destined to bring.
Currently in my second semester of finance, I am running for the position of General Representative. Progress is the right platform to not only diminish the differences between communities at one of the world’s most diverse institutions, the ANU, but also to progress and enable students to create and develop a unique culture; the ANU culture where all the cultures will be respected and cherished.
At Parsa I want to create a society at campus where we all can emulate the best practices followed by the egalitarian societies all around the world, employing the idea to bring along and infuse together people from every corner of the world, along with creating a platform to stand together and show utmost resolution to each other’s needs, so that together we can work for the betterment of ANU and Australia irrespective of the nationalities and cultures we belong to.
I have been an active member of student groups and union entitlements in my previous institutions that worked for the interests of the students.
In addition to this, the position will allow me to be the focal person in further extending the working of PARSA, by hearing to the demands of the students and be the voice of students who tend to live off campus, progressively making them part of the life on campus. Please vote for me.

Hello!
This is Airui, majoring in Master of Anthropology. Here, I am running for the General Representative. Please vote for me, but why? Because of my passion for serving the community and my keenness about sharing knowledge with you.
Two years ago, just like most of you, my postgraduate study life abroad began at ANU as an international student. At that time, I encountered so many difficulties in study and daily life. And I will never forget how lucky I was that I can join in ANU community and this big affable community helped me overcome all those complications. I am very grateful that this big family makes me feel genuine warm and full-hearted support.
I desire to bring the same feelings to you. Just like PARSA’s primary goal is to improve the standards of student welfare and rights. Let me hear your voice so that we can better support and serve for you. Meanwhile, choose our team as the one to achieve our vision, building up a connected and supported community for you. Feel free to contact me whenever you need help.
Thank you!

My name is Edna and I am running for General Representative of PARSA. It is my first time to run for a position in PARSA however, my mettle in leading organizations had been tested through time. I have held key positions in societies I was involved in during my undergraduate years in the Philippines. I was class president throughout my four-year degree; became president of the Chemistry Society; and became the president of the College of Science. Moreover, I have also served as the head of the youth group for seven years in our community’s parish. I was previously the Research Coordinator (Welfare Portfolio) of the Council of International Students Australia (CISA) and currently the Secretary of the ANU Filipino Association (ANUFA).
Throughout these years of experience, I have learned to prioritize, strategize, and implement activities that are best suited for the students’ needs and welfare. But most importantly, I also learned to understand and empathize with the students. This allowed me to establish relationships that made me a more effective leader in serving the people.
As General Representative, I will ensure, to the best of my abilities, that student rights and welfare are championed; that equality and fairness be upheld regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and class; that opportunities for meaningful connections among students are carried out; and that transparency and accountability within organizations are always fulfilled.
I appeal to you all to please vote for me, Edna, as your General Representative of PARSA.

Sisca Rudy
u6130482@anu.edu.au
Ticket: ANyou
Sisca Rudy is a first-year student at the ANU studying a Master of History, and previously completed her Bachelor of Arts at University of Indonesia. Passionate about language and cultural exchange, Sisca combines these interests with her trained skill as a historian and has worked primarily in various range of roles in education industry including as a teaching assistant and Indonesian language teacher for foreign speakers.
This has allowed her to meet with people from different background and nationalities which has helped her develop sound and effective communication skills in a large multicultural environment. Currently, Sisca is involved in the ACT Indonesians’ Student Association as the Vice-President, a role whose main task is to ensure that the Indonesian students get the support they need in adapting to both social and academic cultures in Australia.
With the knowledge that the ANU students come from culturally diverse backgrounds, it is important to provide a platform in which every community’s concern and aspiration is being heard and well-represented. Therefore, in the role of general representative for the ANyou ticket, Sisca wants to ensure that the postgraduate and research students feel welcome and supported in this vast-expanding global community with policies such as providing students with volunteering opportunities in the Canberra community, better access to reasonable housing and university accountability on sexual assault.

I convey my sincere gratitude to be given an opportunity as a nominee for General Representative Position in the upcoming PARSA election. I duly acknowledge the responsibilities and guidelines laid down by the Australian National University and PARSA in solidarity with this position. I commit to my services and support having given the opportunity to serve for the position. I hereby also agree to fulfil and comply with all the requirements and expectations that are empirical to the General Representative position. I’ll extend my support in full capacity and willingness for tasks in order to achieve desired goals and expectations.
Ensuring my services whenever the situation call for my contribution will be on my priority and will be an imminent part of my deliverable. Making sure that the ad-hoc requirements and requests are duly met and executed is important for the system to run smoothly with minimal grievances. It’s also important for me to stay updated with the policies and the norms set up and legislated by the committee.
As an effort to promulgate best practices and honour towards the position of this role it’s important to create a feedback mechanism and suggest constructive measures to bridge the gap between the association and the university. This should also inculcate the core values of integrity for which PARSA stands for.

Hello to all my fellow postgraduate students. My name is Jiawei and I am running for PARSA General Representative. I am studying Master of International Relations (Advanced). I did my undergraduate degree in ANU as well so I am quite familiar with ANU. I have been O-week and Bush week volunteer for several times. And I have been officer for several societies. I was the PARSA delegate in the Council of International Student Australia (CISA) and the Network of Women Students Australia (NOWSA) conference this year.
As an international postgraduate student, I have experienced many challenges that you may have faced or will face in the future. Postgraduates do face a lot of challenges and I want to help those who are struggling. I would like to listen to them, ask what kind of services they need and offer any help that I, my team (Porgress) and ANU are able to give.
In order to solve the problems I have identified and make the most of our university experience, I will strive to create avenues for every postgraduate to speak up and be heard, hold workshops to introduce you to services, policies and opportunities, create support networks between new students and senior students, between international students and domestic students, and run seminars to improve your learning skills and career skills. I cannot achieve this without your support so I ask of you, for your support and help so that together we can create a better environment for postgraduates in ANU.
